How much time do I have to bring an action for sexual harassment?
Under federal law (Title VII) you must file a complaint with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunities Commission), within 300 days after the unlawful act.
Under California law, you must file a complaint with the DFEH (California Department of Fair Employment and Housing) within one (1) year of the alleged unlawful conduct. This time period may be extended up to 90 days, if knowledge id acquired after one (1) year. (Government Code Section 12960).
