What is the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)?
The federal Family and Medical leave Act, "FMLA" 29 U.S.C. Section 2601 et.seq. and its California counterpart, the California Family Right Act of 1993 "CFRA" California Government Code Section 12945.2, provide covered employees with the right to an unpaid leave of absence for up to 12 weeks within a 12 months period, in order to address family and medical responsibilities.
